A great opportunity to purchase a Melonseed on the pacific coast.

“Watercolors” represents a great opportunity to obtain a Crawford Melonseed that is truly “like new” for thousands less than a new purchase.  The boat is located near Bremerton, Washington.

The original owner took delivery in November 2014 in Holland, MI.  Unfortunately, he sailed this boat but 8 times, all in fresh water on Lake Macatawa in Holland, and the trailer traveled less than three miles in that time.

I purchased “Watercolors” from Patrick, her first owner, in 2016 and had her transported by enclosed carrier to my home.  She arrived looking like a brand-new boat.  When I finally got a chance to sail her, she more than exceeded my anticipation / expectations.

Patrick had said that sailing her “reminded me of dancing with a beautiful woman, with the lake surface as the dance floor, the wind as the music, and the sound of the waves as the beat.  It made a better dancer/sailor out of me.”  Patrick is a professional sailor, racing and chartering his large boat, a Jeanneau, ~130 times each year.  I agree with him, “watercolors” is a sailing delight.

The Melonseed offers tremendous fun.  In a whisper of air, she moves along effortlessly.  And when you have her skimming along hitting 7   - 8 knots easily and much faster in a blow, with just one hand holding the main sheet and one on the tiller, it is an experience you never tire of.  Her stability is amazing.  The fun factor is over the top.

“Watercolors” is for sale because of under-utilization.  I’ve sailed her only four times since becoming her steward; each time in fresh water.  She’s beautiful.  She is blemish-free, her hull shines and her teak has been maintained.  In short, she still looks like she just left Crawford Boatbuilding.
