Owner’s Comments:

Someone has defined life as “Life is what happens to you when you make other plans.”   When filling the void when my wife passed, I bought a new Melonseed.  I asked Roger Crawford to name the boat “A Cappella” which musicians read as “Without Accompaniment”.    Whoever buys Hull 458 is free to change the name.   I cannot.

Fully equipped, including mooring cover, life jackets, rowing seat with foot blocks, cushions, oars, and all equipment needed to sail.  Great condition but some typical rubs/scuffs on hull bottom that come from sand beaches.

Hull #458 is ready to sail in every respect.  “A Cappella” has been lightly used, and always stored indoors.  She has made only three road trips:  delivery from Massachusetts, a Michigan rendezvous, and a Montreal rendezvous.   Total distance trailered is less than 3000 miles.   All other sailing has been within 50 miles of her homeport.     She tows beautifully, being aerodynamic in shape and hidden in the wind shadow of the tow vehicle; she seems to roll effortlessly and with no vibration at all.    I once unintentionally pulled her at 80 mph on the Mass Pike without a quiver.

Advancing age and failing health have convinced me to give up sailing, so I am including in this sale, all gear and equipment needed to simply connect to the 2“ hitch ball and head for the water.  The spare tire has never been needed, but I am including a jack, lug wrench, etc.

The only minor flaw on the entire boat is some cosmetic damage to the bottom of the plywood rudder, no doubt caused by striking some hard object in the course of beaching the boat on a shore.  The damage was repaired with epoxy and fiberglass cloth and is now likely stronger and more durable than the original plywood.
