2002 MELONSEED SKIFF # 280 “PANCHA”

OWNER’S COMMENTS:

The boat is named “Pancha”, a type of melon.   There are two sails with the boat, the original well used sail and a nice new tanbark sail purchased in 2023 only used a few times.  “Pancha” is being offered at a very fair price.

The boat has a very strong protective graphite/epoxy coating on the bottom of the hull to protect the bottom when launching and retrieving the boat    The teak trim was sanded and refinished with three coats of Cetol in the spring of 2023, the floorboards are in excellent condition and the mast was sanded and revarnished in 2023 as well.   A pair of oars are included.  The boom and sprit are in excellent condition and have leather chaff protectors.   There are several superficial gelcoat scratches on the port beam from launching activities but overall, the boat is in very good condition. Please note that the over the road trailer that came with it was totally rusted out and not safe.  However, there is a wide wheeled Seitech launching trailer that comes with the boat (we used it for beach launching) and it is quite easy and straightforward as the boat sits on its balance point so there is little if any tongue weight and the wide wheels allow for easy movement over sand or any other surface.

I have always admired the Melonseed as a beautiful and quick sailing boat, so when I had the opportunity to buy one, I did.   After the spring refit/commissioning, I sailed her several times around Padanaram Harbor and out into Buzzards Bay.  She was a joy to sail and easy to launch and retrieve.   Unfortunately, I had a bicycle accident and suffered a serious injury which is now healed but precludes me from sitting on the floor of the boat comfortably.   As a result, I am reluctantly selling my Melonseed.  I am happy to show her anytime, she is a beautiful boat.
