1988 Crawford Swampscott Sailing Dory

Hull # 148, $5750

Located in western Massachusetts.

Here are the “Owner’s comments:

It is with sadness that we are selling our beloved dory. We purchased it from you in 1988 and it has served us well. Most of its lifetime has been spent sailing, rowing and motoring in the harbor in Provincetown. Our son John Carlos, who is now 25 years old, learned to sail, catch Blue fish, and row in her as a youth.  Our initial investment has been returned to us a 100-fold in a lifetime of wonderful memories and experiences.

Some facts:

The dory has always been stored inside during winter months except for the last 3 years when it was totally shrink-wrapped and lived in our backyard.

It is in excellent condition with the excepted gentle wear and tear that occurs over a 30-year lifetime. Dory has always been treated with love and affection!

Eight years ago, the trailer was refurbished with lights and recently new tires were put on it. I would like to say that it might make a trip of 1,500 miles but cannot vouch for this as it has not been on the road for the last 4 years.

Hull number: RDBS0148B888

Included in the sale:

  • Nissan 3.5 HP outboard motor with no more than 25 – 30 hours of use. (Should the buyer not want the motor, take $300 off the sell price)
  • Danforth anchor and chain. (No line)
  • 3 PFD’s
  • Oars
  • Trailer with grease gun and grease for Bearing Buddy
  • Green custom-made semi-water proof boat cover
  • Required lines: halyard, sheet, painter, snotter, etc.

Bill’s Dory is a very good boat, and these boats in general are exceptionally seaworthy, fun to use and downright lovely.  I put beautiful teak panels on the sheer plank of the boat that add significantly to the visual impact.  I also believe that this boat is very fairly priced for a boat of this value.
